It's as good as they say.
So I caved to the hype and saw Avatar in 3D last night. Well, I'm in love.
I now understand how this was James Cameron's life work - it's 3 hours of action, romance, thrill, and even social consciousness. It's absolutely incredible - go see it (espeically in 3D)! The New York Times sums up my feelings perfectly:
With “Avatar” James Cameron has turned one man’s dream of the movies into a trippy joy ride about the end of life — our moviegoing life included — as we know it. Several decades in the dreaming and more than four years in the actual making, the movie is a song to the natural world that was largely produced with software, an Emersonian exploration of the invisible world of the spirit filled with Cameronian rock ’em, sock ’em pulpy action. Created to conquer hearts, minds, history books and box-office records, the movie — one of the most expensive in history, the jungle drums thump — is glorious and goofy and blissfully deranged.
This film also reinvigorated my undying love for Zoe Saldana. Ever since she played the saucy, chain smoking, rebel ballerina in "Center Stage," I've loved her. In "Avatar," She really made her character, Neytiri, come to life as a dynamic and strong female lead. Her amazing fashion sense doesn't really hurt either.
With that in mind, I decided to make a small blogoshrine to my favorite blue creature.

Cue applause.
Love fluffy skirts. I'd wear mine with a leather jacket instead, though.
Mom gave me sequin leggings for Christmas, and I thought, what the hell do you wear with sequin leggings? Ta da! Chanel Iman does it perfectly.
I have boyfriend jeans from Gap that I distressed (see the "before" below), and I love how this girl wears hers.

Giggity Gags.

My favorite quote:
"[Lady Gaga] is a 23-year-old New Yorker of outsized ambition and middling talents, a onetime Catholic school girl with a Duchampian show-business handle, a self-promoter so tireless she made Paris Hilton look like a lay-about; a woman so assured of her superlatively good bad taste that she was in a fetish-wear gown to meet the Queen of England."
